Pimples can appear anywhere on the body, including the back. Heat rash, also referred to as skin irritation, is the most common cause of pimples. Exposure to the sun for a long duration often leads to heat rash that is characterized by clusters of tiny pimples.

Causes

Acne

This is a skin disease that flares up in the form of pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads. Excess oil production of sebaceous glands located in the inner layer of the skin leads to clogging of skin pores. The blocked pores become a breeding ground for bacteria, which ultimately leads to acne.
Due to the thick skin of the back, acne is quite resistant and may not respond initially to treatment. Acne breakouts on the back are relatively common, though acne is generally seen on the face rather than the back. Although back acne can occur in both sexes, it is more common and stubborn in males.

Measles

Small, bumpy structures forming on the back area can also be a symptom of measles, a viral infection that eventually causes skin rash over the entire body. Though, usually, measles rash (formation of small pimples) starts from the forehead, it can also first appear on the back. The sufferer may also show flu-like symptoms such as runny nose, cough, and fever.

Chickenpox

Although anyone can suffer from chickenpox, it is more common in children. In the beginning, a few red bumps may appear on the upper back and neck, that eventually cover the entire back and the body over time. This red, itchy skin rash visible on the mouth, nose and the scalp, is extremely contagious and spreads through coughing and sneezing. People with weak or suppressed immune system are more vulnerable to this illness.

Hives

This is a skin infection that usually appears due to an allergic reaction to a prescribed drug. The skin affected with hives is marked by formation of red, itchy skin bumps, that are normally few millimeters in size. These pimples can be seen anywhere on the body including the back, legs, and the arms. The occurrence of hives is not a serious issue as it lasts only for a period of 2-3 days.

Cystic Acne

This is a type of acne in which pimples are larger in size as compared to regular acne pimples. Cystic acne causes big pimples on the back and these hard skinned pimples are painful. This is a complicated form of acne that is marked by deep infections under the skin. The large-sized pimples are filled with pus that show resistance to treatment and last for several weeks.

Treatment

Back Acne Remedy

In order to eliminate back acne, there are quite a few skin care products. Skin cleansers containing glycolic or salicylic acid are often recommended for back acne.

Cystic Acne Remedy

As this is a severe form of acne, visiting a dermatologist is essential. Although there are cleansers available, these products are least effective.

Heat Rash Remedy

Prefer to stay in a cool environment. Hot and humid atmosphere may aggravate the condition. Application of ice packs and mild cortisone creams can also help to ease the discomfort.

Natural Treatment

Application of fresh lemon juice on the back can also improve the skin condition. Another remedy involves mixing lemon juice and rose water in equal amounts, and then applying it on the affected area. Pimples on the back of arm can also be treated with fenugreek seeds. Prepare a paste of fenugreek seeds and then smear it on the affected area.
Drinking plenty of water and staying away from junk foods during any skin infection is also necessary to speed up healing. Also, avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes as sweat gets accumulated underneath the fabric, which can cause and worsen acne breakouts.
