Sometimes, the rash is so tender that when you scratch it, it burns terribly. The reason behind occurrence of such rash could be excess moisture around genitals or groin area, or too much heat. However, good thing about skin rash is that it is not too dangerous, and can be treated with just a few applications of an antifungal cream.
Moreover, you need to keep the area dry and moisture-free in order to prevent yourself from further itch or rash. The following sections explain the causes and symptoms of rash between legs in detail, and throw light on the relevant treatments for the same. Take a look.

Causes and Symptoms

The most common cause of rash is sweat. When the skin of your legs touch each other, due to increased friction along the folds of the skin, sweat is produced, thereby, leading to redness and rash. Since it is comparatively harder for air to reach the groin area and dry it, the rash advances further, thus, aggravating.
Sometimes, is caused by a fungus called T. rubrum, which is commonly referred to as Jock Itch. In many cases, a person finds it extremely difficult to walk, due to redness and pain. Jock itch usually occurs on both sides, and if not treated, can transform into a serious infection.
Also, rash in between the legs is a possibility when one does not change their underwear or pants for a long time, or wear a damp underwear which, eventually, causes rashes on skin. The symptoms of rash between legs comprise redness around the groin area, extreme itch, and pain.
Sometimes, the texture of rash is scaly which construes to the fact that the skin is peeling off, and that it needs immediate medical attention.

Treatment

The first, and the best way to get rid of rash on the groin area is to apply a talcum powder so that it renders dryness to the area, thus, reducing the rash. Many people having experienced such kind of rash have resorted to using talcum powder on the affected area after every few hours.
Secondly, changing undergarments frequently can help in reducing the rash to a significant extent. Usually, wearing a single underpant for a long time tends to dampen the area, thus, causing the rash to develop. Changing underpants frequently would help the area to recover from excessive moisture.
Thirdly, start wearing boxers over your underwear to avoid skin contact. Usually, skin rash develops when skin of the thighs come in contact. Wearing boxers will prevent their contact, and you will soon benefit from the dryness they provide to the area between your legs.
Fourthly, using over-the-counter anti-inflammatory or antifungal creams can help you get rid of rash between your legs. However, you need to confirm with your healthcare provider whether or not you can use them for this purpose. Talk to your dermatologist, and seek proper medical advice instead of going about it on yourself.
Rash between the legs is extremely common in people during summers when they sweat a lot, and are exposed to heat significantly. While such kind of rash can be a result of improper hygiene too, it is strictly advisable you wash the affected area with a non-perfumed soap everyday, and towel-dry it properly, ensuring zero moisture.
If, after repeated attempts of treatment on your own, you find no results, it's time you discuss it with your dermatologist, for what you're thinking of as a regular skin rash could turn out to be a serious skin infection.
