A wolf spider is one of the many different species of spiders. It is unique in its own way. It is a ground spider, which means that it hunts for its prey by remaining on the ground and does not build a web around it. It derives its name from the fact that it stalks on its prey just like a wolf. It has eight eyes and very good eyesight, along with an intense sense of touch, which makes it a good predator. As it does not form a web, it houses in the rocks and other natural shelters, like woodlands, shrubs, gardens, and even in your house.

Symptoms

The symptoms of a wolf spider bite are similar to the brown recluse spider bites, but not as harmful.

➜ The general symptoms are swelling, itching, and pain. Some people may also develop allergies after the bite.

➜ Some people experience serious symptoms, like dizziness and nausea. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these indicants.
➜ There may be others whose body will react very differently. They may not experience severe pain and swelling, but their wound might still take a lot of time to heal. The swelling can be very painful and may last for about 10 days.

➜ If a child or an elderly person has been bitten, it is necessary to take them to the hospital for a proper treatment.

Treatment

The spider bite treatment for this is not different from the other spider bites.

➜ The area of the bite should be first washed with an antibacterial soap and water. Clean area thoroughly to avoid any infection.

➜ Apply an antibiotic cream to prevent the infection (if any) from spreading further. This cream also helps in reducing the itchiness around the bite.
➜ Dab some ice cubes on the area to reduce the swelling. Ice also helps in suppressing the pain caused by the bite.
➜ Keep the bitten area elevated to prevent it from swelling further. Take some painkillers or antibiotics, as prescribed by the doctor, to deal with the bite pain.

➜ Normally, in a healthy person, all the above treatments show results in some time. However, if you experience different symptoms, that persist for long, it is best to seek the advice of your physician.
